How to check and manage DKIM in DirectAdmin Print

  • 2

To check and manage DKIM in DirectAdmin, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to your DirectAdmin account.

  2. Navigate to the domain you want to manage. On the main dashboard, you'll find a list of domains under "Your Domains." Click on the domain name for which you want to manage DKIM.

  3. In the domain management page, locate the "Email Management" section and click on "DKIM."

  4. You will be taken to the DKIM management page. If DKIM is not already enabled, click on "Enable" to activate it. DirectAdmin will automatically generate the necessary public and private keys for DKIM.

  5. After enabling DKIM, you can find the DNS record that needs to be added to your domain's DNS settings. This is usually a TXT record with a name like "default._domainkey" followed by your domain name, and a value that starts with "v=DKIM1; k=rsa; p=..." (the public key).

  6. Copy the entire DNS record and add it to your domain's DNS settings. If you're not sure how to do this, consult your hosting provider or domain registrar's documentation or support.

  7. Wait for the DNS changes to propagate, which can take anywhere from a few minutes to 48 hours, depending on your DNS provider.

  8. Verify that DKIM is working correctly by using an online DKIM checker, like MXToolbox's DKIM Record Lookup (https://mxtoolbox.com/dkim.aspx). Enter your domain name and the selector (usually "default") in the appropriate fields and click "Check DKIM Record."

If the checker returns a valid DKIM record, it means DKIM is correctly configured for your domain in DirectAdmin. If not, review your DNS settings and ensure that the TXT record has been added correctly.
