How to Set Up New Nameservers and Child Name Records in DomainIndia.com VPS with DirectAdmin Panel

Prerequisites

Before you begin, make sure you have the following:

  1. A registered domain with domainindia.com.
  2. A VPS hosting plan with DirectAdmin control panel from domainindia.com.
  3. Root access to your VPS server.

Step 1: Create Nameservers

Register Nameservers

  1. Log in to your domainindia.com account.
  2. Navigate to the domain management section.
  3. Select the domain you want to configure nameservers for.
  4. Click on "Register Nameservers" or "Manage Nameservers."
  5. Create two custom nameservers, usually named ns1.yourdomain.com and ns2.yourdomain.com, replacing "yourdomain.com" with your actual domain name.
  6. Enter the IP addresses assigned to your VPS server for each nameserver.
  7. Save your changes.

Configure Nameservers in DirectAdmin

  1. Log in to your DirectAdmin control panel.
  2. Navigate to "Admin Settings" or "Administrator Settings."
  3. Locate the "Nameservers" section.
  4. Replace the default nameservers with the custom nameservers you created in the previous step.
  5. Save your changes.

Step 2: Set Up Child Name Records

  1. Log in to your DirectAdmin control panel.
  2. Navigate to "DNS Management" or "DNS Administration."
  3. Select the domain you want to configure child name records for.
  4. Add two new A records for each nameserver you created earlier:
    • Hostname: ns1, Type: A, Value: [IP address of your VPS server]
    • Hostname: ns2, Type: A, Value: [IP address of your VPS server]
  5. Save your changes.

Step 3: Update Domain Nameservers

  1. Log in to your domainindia.com account.
  2. Navigate to the domain management section.
  3. Select the domain you want to update nameservers for.
  4. Click on "Update Nameservers" or "Change Nameservers."
  5. Replace the current nameservers with the custom nameservers you created in Step 1.
  6. Save your changes.

Wait for the DNS propagation to complete, which can take up to 48 hours. Once the propagation is complete, your domain will be using the custom nameservers you created, and you can manage DNS records through the DirectAdmin control panel on your VPS server.
