Introduction: Domain status codes provide information about the current state of a domain name. In this article, we'll explain the different domain status codes that you may encounter when managing your domain with DomainIndia.com.

  1. ACTIVE: Set by the registry, this status indicates that the domain can be modified, renewed, and delegated to at least one name server. The domain is included in the zone and can be updated by the registrar.

  2. REGISTRY-LOCK: Imposed by the registry, this status prevents the domain from being modified or deleted by the registrar. To update the domain, the registry must remove the REGISTRY-LOCK status. The domain can still be renewed and included in the zone if delegated to a name server.

  3. REGISTRAR-LOCK: Applied by the sponsoring registrar, this status restricts modification or deletion of the domain. To make changes, the registrar must remove the REGISTRAR-LOCK status. The domain can still be renewed and will be included in the zone.

  4. REGISTRY-HOLD: Set by the registry, this status disallows domain modification or deletion by the registrar. To update the domain, the REGISTRY-HOLD status must be removed by the registry. The domain can still be renewed but will not be included in the zone.

  5. REGISTRAR-HOLD: Imposed by the sponsoring registrar, this status prohibits domain modification or deletion. To make changes, the registrar must remove the REGISTRAR-HOLD status. The domain can still be renewed but will not be included in the zone.

  6. REDEMPTIONPERIOD: Assigned by the registry, this status occurs when a domain is requested for deletion and has been registered for more than five calendar days. The domain will not be included in the zone and cannot be modified or purged, only restored. All other requests to update the domain will be rejected. The domain remains in this status for up to 30 calendar days.

  7. PENDINGRESTORE: Set by the registry after a registrar requests restoration of a domain in REDEMPTIONPERIOD status. The domain is included in the zone, but all requests to modify or update the domain will be rejected. The domain remains in this status while awaiting required restoration documentation from the registrar. If the documentation isn't provided within seven calendar days, the domain reverts to REDEMPTIONPERIOD status. The domain's status changes to ACTIVE only if the registrar submits the required documentation within the specified timeframe.

  8. PENDINGDELETE: Applied by the registry after a domain in REDEMPTIONPERIOD status has not been restored by the registrar. The domain is excluded from the zone, and all requests to modify or update it will be rejected. After five calendar days in this status, the domain is purged from the registry database.
